The purpose of the Grant is to deliver a five (5) day shearing and woolhandling accredited skill set to a minimum of eight (8) and a maximum of twelve (12) Year?11 and 12 students from Jamestown Community School, South Australia. Intended outcomes of the Grant are to: Provide students with a skill set connected to future vocational education and training (VET) pathways and employment opportunities for the agriculture industry sector in sheep shearing and wool handling in the SA4 Port Pirie Industry Training Hub servicing region; Improve students? prospects of employment on completion of their education; and address the high rate of youth unemployment in the Port Pirie Industry Training Hub servicing region. The Grant will directly support students to improve skills for gaining employment as sheep shearers and woolhandlers in the agriculture industry, supporting the skill shortages in the local region.
