Zoos Victoria Bushfire Emergency Wildlife Response

Purpose:

The purpose of the Grant is to provide funding to Zoos Victoria to rescue, treat and rehabilitate wildlife impacted by bushfires and return them into suitable natural environments or otherwise take care of them. Zoos SA will support wildlife impacted by bushfires by coordinating and operating wildlife triage centres in regional control centres. The grant may also include other interventions such as: protecting remaining habitat; controlling introduced predators; providing supplementary food and water in the field; moving animals to safer locations including into care at zoo properties; rescuing threatened species in temporary holding facilities and establishing captive insurance populations of impacted species.
