The project will build Australia's first purpose built, high-throughput cultivation platform, enabling the isolation and genomic characterisation of the most comprehensive biobank of microorganisms from the human body. This resource will enhance the ability to study the diverse ways microorganisms influence health, and how they can be leveraged to treat disease. These discoveries will allow new clinical solutions to be developed for major unmet health challenges that are influenced by the human microbiome, ranging from inflammatory and autoimmune diseases to mental health and infections. |
