Purpose:
The Wilsons Promontory Sanctuary will establish a 50,000 hectare world–class climate change refuge, providing a safe haven for Victoria's wildlife. Complementing the Victorian Government's commitment to construct a 10–km long predator–proof fence across the Prom's narrow entrance, the Prom Sanctuary will intensify pest predator control to take full advantage of the unique strategic advantages the Wilson's Promontory landscape provides to prevent new incursions of invasive species, support threatened species recovery and prepare for potential native species translocations into the safe haven.
