Australia Pacific Rugby League Partnership – Support for NRL trial games in the Pacific
Purpose:
This ad hoc grant activity will be a partnership with Australian National Rugby League (NRL) to strengthen people-to-people links between Australia and the Pacific in the sport of rugby league, with a particular focus on PNG. The activity will provide support for two NRL Telstra Premiership teams to play official NRL trial games in the Pacific, commencing in PNG in 2020. Players, coaches and club officials will visit PNG a number of days before the match, to prepare and train, as well as to deliver community and diplomatic outreach activities in a visit program developed in consultation with DFAT’s Port Moresby post.
