Grant Program:
Ideas Grants
Grant Activity:
Coxiella pathogenesis and Effector-Effector Interplay
Purpose:
Coxiella causes the human infection Q fever. Coxiella has a cohort of virulence proteins that interfere with the human cell. This research will uncover how these proteins function, and interact with each other, to cause disease. This will contribute important new knowledge of pathogenesis that will highlight novel intervention targets. We will also learn how these virulence proteins manipulate human cell functions which are involved in a range of human diseases.
