Grant Activity:
PANOREXIA: A clinical trial of psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy in anorexia nervosa
Purpose:
Anorexia nervosa is a deadly eating disorder that is often resistant to treatment. Psilocybin is a psychedelic drug, found in mushrooms, that has shown to be effective in a range of mental illnesses, especially depression and anxiety, which very commonly co-occur with anorexia nervosa. There is emerging evidence that psychedelics may improve the mental wellbeing of individuals with this illness. This study will investigate 3 doses of psilocybin assisted therapy in adults with anorexia nervosa.
