Grant Activity:
UQ-Blue-Tokyo: Promoting Cyber Security Sector Diversity and Bilateral Interdisciplinary Research
Purpose:

UQ has partnered with Blue Inc., a leader of national conferences and events in the world of cyber security in Japan, to host a series of workshop sessions in Tokyo and Australia (subject to covid-19 travel regulations) and online. The aim is to promote greater diversity in cyber security and share game-changing interdisciplinary research between Australia and Japan to address complex cyber security challenges, engage researchers, industry experts and students. Some proposed sessions include ‘Automating cyber incident responses to critical infrastructure’; ‘Cyber crimes and cyber security’; ‘National security and cyber policies for enhancing regional cyber security capabilities’ and ‘Interdisciplinary cyber security education’. The initiative aims to build long term research collaboration and knowledge sharing for effective awareness of cyber security education and industry collaboration between academia and industry to better identify skills gaps in the workforce and priority challenges requiring immediate solutions for industry. Students will be able to participate, allowing them to learn more about the cyber security profession from experts and establish industry relationships. Between the annual workshops, we will also kick start a series of podcasts on topics including: ‘Cybersecurity career opportunities in Japan/Australia for new professionals and ‘Ten in-demand cyber security professions in 2022 in Japan/Australia’.
