Grant Activity:
Mapping the Beneficial Effects of Exercise in humans using Personalised Phosphoproteomics
Purpose:
Exercise has major health benefits and can prevent many diseases. For example, it is very effective in diabetes by improving insulin action. However, exercise is poorly tolerated by many creating a need to define the mechanism for these benefits. Using cutting-edge technologies we have identified a new lead that might underpin exercise effects on insulin action. This project will characterise this novel pathway in humans, bringing us a step closer to finding a drug that mimics exercise.
