Instalation of Solar Battery for HarveyAmbulance Sub Centre
Purpose:
This project is for the installation of a battery to complement the existing solar system at the St John WA ambulance depot in Harvey. The battery system will be integrated with the solar system so that the battery will charge during sunlight hours and then power the building overnight to reduce our grid draw. Excess power will also be exported to grid during best feed in tariff, to optimise the bill reduction we achieve by having solar generation.
In addition, the battery will function as a backup should a power outage occur. Having a backup supply is important at the depot to ensure that our ambulance call out system and radio networks is always available. Our system is NBN reliant, and therefore requires power in order to function. Currently we have to fall back to mobile phone communication during a power outage, which can disrupt and delay our response to emergencies.
This project will save energy, and reduce our energy bills. It will also improve the reliability of our important systems and provide redundancy from the grid power supply. We have funds required to cover the gap between grant funding and expected total cost.
