Grant Activity:
A Multicomponent Exercise Medicine Programme in Patients with Pancreatic Cancer Undergoing Neoadjuvant Therapy (the EXPAN trial): A Two-armed Phase I Randomised Controlled Trial
Purpose:
Pancreatic cancer has the third lowest survival rate in Australia. Although treatment advances have improved chances of long-term survival in patients with borderline resectable or locally advanced tumours, the rate remains low due to inoperability and poor physical condition after pre-operative therapy. This trial will examine if exercise is feasible to implement during pre-operative therapy and if it is beneficial to patients’ physical and mental health as well as their response to treatment.
