Purpose:
The Busselton-Margaret River Airport is currently undergoing a $70M upgrade of its runway and terminal to achieve capacity for interstate and international freight and passenger operations as of late 2018. The project subject to this funding request is to develop the Busselton Margaret River Airport Air Freight Precinct. Vacant land owned by the City adjacent to the Airport will be developed into fully serviced sites to attract private sector development of new business and new employment in freight, logistics and other aviation support industries. This will diversify the regional economy from predominantly low skilled tourism and agriculture jobs to more highly skilled aviation related employment opportunities.
