Grant Activity:
Time-Restricted EATing to reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes (TREAT).
Purpose:
Two million Australians are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus. This may be partly due to modern human lifestyles which are linked with eating for a prolonged period each day. Preliminary data by the CIs show that time restricted eating (TRE, 8-10 h/day for up to 8 wk) improves glucose tolerance by 36 percent in people with obesity. This study will now test whether TRE is effective to improve glycaemic control and can be sustainable in humans longer term.
