Defining the inflammatory T cell landscape in ankylosing spondylitis
Purpose:
Ankylosing spondylitis, or AS for short, is a common inflammatory arthritis that affects joints of the spine and pelvis. There is no cure for AS. Cells of the immune system called T cells are known to be important in AS but the details of how these cells work in the disease are unclear. Our work will define exactly how T cells work in AS. This world-first knowledge will permit design of new treatments focused specifically on preventing harmful aspects of T cell function that contribute to AS.
