NHMRC 21/22 1.1 Health and Medical Research
Grant Program:
Investigator Grants
Grant Activity:
Improving outcomes for ICU survivors with anaemia
Purpose:
More than 170,000 Australians require intensive care treatment each year. At discharge, nearly half are anaemic. This impairs recovery, increasing the risk of prolonged and repeated hospitalisation. My research has identified promising anaemia treatments. This Fellowship will allow me to generate high quality evidence to guide practice and policy with the aim of improving recovery after ICU. I will also develop new blood tests that will enable these treatments to be personalised.
