Purpose:
Leonora has a harsh environment, very hot and dry in summer, with very cold nights in winter. Our club is not connected to mains power so we have our own 6KVA generators to power the lights, pumps and other appliances, including the lights to the range. Summer days are too hot for shooting which limits shooting opportunities unless a night shoot is held. Our long term plan is to have solar power to all the amenities at the Leonora SSAA Branch Inc. rifle club. This will hopefully enable the use of the mess and ablutions without the necessity to turn on the generator. This initial PCP grant will enable solar lighting to be established along the length of the range. The quote from Outback Energy actually exceeds the grant amount but we plan to purchase and install what we can afford, with future plans to extend as the funds become available. We have discussed the possibilities with Outback Energy and have been assured that further panels and battery storage can be added to the system in the future.
