Grant Program:
Investigator Grants
Grant Activity:
Revealing how tolerance checkpoints fail in human autoimmune diseases and how to target therapy
Purpose:
Prof Goodnow will lead a program of research defining the root cause of human autoimmune diseases and using these discoveries to guide better targetted treatment for these important, chronic diseases.

The research employs new single cell genomic technologies to pinpoint the DNA and other molecular abnormalities that allow rare cells within the immune system to escape the body’s normal control processes, and instead attack one or other part of the body to cause autoimmunity.
