Purpose:
The council, in collaboration with residents of identified streets, will reintroduce local native canopy trees. The council The project will undertake revegetation of native trees and installation of tree guards with the assistance of local residents. This will restore tree canopy and educate local residents on the importance of trees within the local community.will include residents of these streets in community discussions and education about restoring tree cover in urban areas associated with findings from university research. This will provide residents with an understanding and commitment to trees, and contribute to changing community attitudes regarding the presence of canopy trees in local neighbourhoods. Trees will be provided to local residents for planting on the roadside verge. Council environmental staff will conduct neighbourhood information sessions to allow input about tree species selection, care and watering, provide tools and assist residents with planting.
