Purpose:
The KI Fire Recovery Landcare Fencing Project Round 1 will protect 308Ha of native vegetation by completing 30–35km of stock exclusion fencing across five farms impacted by the 19/20 bushfires. The five farmers involved in this project have a genuine interest in protecting regenerating native vegetation on their farms. The 2019/20 fire destroyed thousands of kilometres of critical fencing; the priority is to return farm businesses back to full production capacity without significant impact on native vegetation recovery. Post–fire, farmers have maintained lower numbers of stock or changed to cropping areas they are most concerned about. This is not sustainable for the ongoing survival of these farming businesses.
