Purpose:
On LP gas fired boiler, installing steam meters with strainer & moisture separator with trap set will help in measuring and monitoring the steam generation. Also, the project includes installation of LP gas flow meter to monitor the consumption to generate steam. The flow meter in feed water to boiler will record the feed water flow. The temperature on feed water and condensate line will help to better calculate the flow and enthalpy of boiler intake. These flow meters along with temperature and pressure sensors will then be linked to a new proprietary boiler house monitoring system B850 of Spirax Sarco which has capability to record, monitor and trend 24x7 these values with boiler efficiency. These figures can be use to establish baseline of energy consumption per ton of finished product produce. Any deviation in energy consumption without change in product value can be monitored and correct action be taken to reduce the waste and better control greenhouse gas emission.
