PBS Program Name:
CA 18/19 Improved cancer control
Grant Program:
2018 Priority-driven Collaborative Cancer Research Scheme
Grant Activity:
Targeting alternative SMAD-related suppressive signalling pathway enhance NK cell response
Purpose:

This project will determine if alternative decapentaplegic homolog (SMAD)-related immune suppressive pathway produced in tumours can be neutralised in synergism with BRAFV600E inhibition to allow tumour resident NK cells to maintain their conventional tumour immune functions and prevent cancer spread. It is a completely novel approach and this information will allow for the more rational design of melanoma treatments that targets NK cells following surgery and local radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy.
