Grant Activity:
Novel oxygen sensing pathways in hypoxic disease
Purpose:
Oxygen (O2) is a vital biological resource and sufficient concentrations are needed for normal metabolism. Reductions in O2 (hypoxia) can cause significant stress that subverts life and is a key feature of disorders such as cancer and cardiovascular disease. By understanding how cells respond to changes in O2 we can develop effective methods to treat these detrimental conditions. This project aims to increase knowledge of a new O2 sensing system to combat hypoxic cancers such as glioblastoma.
