Purpose:
This project will enable the Battery Stewardship Council (BSC) to transition from a Battery Stewardship Scheme Conceptual Design to an Operational Design. The Scheme has been endorsed by all governments in Australia and authorised by the ACCC. The activities that will be undertaken will secure importer participation to enable ongoing financial stability; develop financial systems; create operating procedures; design tools to ensure transparent tracking; establish a verification process; create container protocols; and generate baseline data and performance metrics.
This project will result in an ongoing self-sustaining Battery Stewardship Scheme which will launch a national battery collection network in 2021/2022.
