Purpose:
Burnett Mary Regional Group (BMRG) will work with Gidarjil Development Corporation through existing consortium partnerships on the Port Curtis Coral Coast People's Country to undertake threat abatement within a highly important conservation estate in Bulburin National Park (NP). Bulburin NP protects the only known native population of the endangered Bulburin nut tree Macadamia jansenii. There are less than 40 trees recorded in the natural environment, making this an extremely significant asset to protect from invasive species. As an import indigenous forest, Bulburin NP was a recipient of the Queen's Commonwealth Canopy Awards and has been a dedicated National Park since 2006. This area is not only of immense value to the region but also nationally and internationally.
