Developing new therapies targeting innate immune mediated inflammation in neurodegenerative disease
Purpose:
Brain diseases such as Parkinson’s disease and motor neuron disease remain a burden on society with few effective treatments. Recent studies have documented a key role for the immune system and inflammation in accelerating neurodegenerative disease progression. This project will identify new drugs that can tame the inflammation cascade in the brain, to help treat these diseases. It will assist in the progression of these drugs into human clinical trials to ultimately improve patient outcomes.
