Supporting recovery of four fauna species in East Gippsland
Purpose:
This project addresses key bushfire recovery priorities for four threatened fauna species Glossy Black Cockatoo, southern Brush-tailed Rock-wallaby, Long-nosed Potoroo and Spot-tailed Quoll - in East Gippsland, Victoria.
Project activities include fauna surveys, habitat mapping, data recording, spatial mapping; fox control; and animal translocation planning, including genetic sampling.
Project outcomes include development of Black She-oak (Glossy Black-Cockatoo) spatial mapping layers to inform planned burning activities; completion of camera monitoring of fauna species; and planning for future translocation (Spot-tailed Quoll and Long-nosed Potoroo).
