Purpose:
PCYC Port Stephens Nelson Bay works with the NSW Police in supporting young people in empowering them in direction and mentorship. The PCYC offers a variety of programs that work directly with young people and local schools in setting meaningful targets in reducing youth related crime.
The Club at Nelson Bay offers a variety of activities including basketball and gymnastics. Basketball is targeting 10 years to 20 years boys and girls in skills sessions and competitions from Monday to Friday afternoons and evenings.
The Gymnastics program works with 12 month to 20–year–old young people in a variety of differing levels and skills in gymnastics. It connects directly with social and fitness goals and developing long lasting change in the young persons direction.
The current lighting in both spaces have ageing fluorescent tubes that offer minimal to poor lighting. These need constant replacing that incurs costs that need to be taken from other areas of Club operations.
With the lighting upgrade, the change would enable for an improved lighting source and enhancing the spaces for competition standards. It would also reduce the need for future short–term maintenance and a reduction in running costs.
This saving can be redirected back into the programs and activities to enable us to better connect and make a difference to a young persons future.
The Project Plan consists of engaging the services of Ceassa Australia to complete all work on site. Ceassa Australia are a local based business with commercial electrical qualifications. They are our current contractor and have an in–depth knowledge of the PCYC building and ensuring the setup meets all our requirements and needs.
Ceassa will source the lights and equipment to remove existing lighting and replace with energy efficient LED lighting throughout the two spaces.
The project will be managed by Travis Douglass Club Manager PCYC Port Stephens Nelson Bay.
