Purpose:
This fellowship aims to provide a world-class surveillance method for antimicrobial use and antimicrobial resistance genes in Australia's general population through wastewater-based epidemiology. Expected outcomes include building capacity to objectively measure antimicrobial use and antimicrobial resistance in the general population. Significant benefits expected include a cost effective, rapid surveillance tool to meet the emergent needs of bacterial disease outbreaks.
