Installation of Solar PV system at Kiama SLSC
Purpose:
With the significant increases in electricity costs over the past decade, it is imperative for Kiama SLSC to install a solar system as a matter of priority. Our quarterly electricity bills have more than doubled over the past 5 years which is placing pressure on our finances and on our sponsorship and fundraising team. We propose to install a 13.3kW system at an upfront cost of $11,500 (excl GST). The expected electricity savings for a system of this size is almost $4,000 per year – a significant amount of money that the club can instead put towards equipment and other vital operating costs.
The system will be installed by a CEC accredited installer using CEC approved products to ensure the best outcome for our Club and the environment. The installer is based locally ensuring the economic return remains within our community.
Failing to switch to solar energy now, in light of continued electricity price rises, will place additional pressure on club finances and force us to redirect core funds from our important lifesaving, youth development and surf sport activities. Additionally, solar panels are also becoming a basic component of any organisational environmental strategy, and we are committed to reducing our environmental impact through facility improvements and behaviour change.
