On 14 November 2020, as part of a broader package of economic, development and security measures to support Southeast Asia’s recovery from COVID-19, Prime Minister Morrison announced a four-year $232 Mekong-Australia Partnership (MAP) to support economic integration and development in the Mekong Sub-region. This grants round contributes the MAP’s objectives to boost economic integration, investment and development in Vietnam in support of progressing an Australia-Vietnam Enhanced Economic Engagement Strategy.
Australia is currently the world’s leading LNG exporter. Vietnam has fast-growing energy and electricity demand and a desire to reduce its carbon footprint. This project will provide actionable insights and recommendations on how to address the current challenges to Australia supplying LNG or participating in LNG-related opportunities in Vietnam.
