Grant Activity:
Interferon-inducible proteins in the innate immune defense against bacteria
Purpose:
The increasing prevalence of infection caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria in Australia is alarming. One way to fight against these bacteria is to boost the ability of the immune system to kill bacteria. In this proposal, we will investigate the basic biology of a new group of anti-microbial proteins produced by the cell in the hope of finding novel ways to treat deadly bacterial infections.
