Grant Activity:
Host and pathogen contributors to artemisinin resistance
Purpose:
Drug-resistance threatens our ability to treat deadly malaria infections, and resistance has now emerged against artemisinins, the last-line medicines for malaria. This work will use modern analytical and computational techniques to measure the molecules present in parasites, and blood, that are associated with artemisinin resistance. Understanding these factors will allow development of new strategies to monitor, and manage, the spread of resistance to this essential drug.
