Grant Program:
Project
Grant Activity:
Long-term impact of moderate and late preterm birth: effects on neurodevelopment, brain development and respiratory health at school age
Purpose:

In 2010, we established the first Australian study of children born just a few weeks earlier than normal. Our results showed that these children had delayed development, related to smaller and less mature brains in the newborn period. They had more breathing problems in early childhood. We want to know if these problems persist at school age so we will reassess the way they think, what their brains look like with special brain scans, and ask them to do breathing tests.
