Purpose:
This basic science study will investigate the neural mechanisms underlying cognitive deficits caused by blockade of specific ion channels in the brain, establishing fundamental knowledge in this burgeoning field. This ultimately will have important implications for our understanding of the pathophysiology of schizophrenia, a psychiatric condition associated with loss of these same ion channels.
