Mechanisms and consequences of cholinergic neuron degeneration in sleep apnea
Purpose:
This proposal aims to understand the aetiology by which obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is associated with an increased risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. The outcomes of our experiments will provide a clear understanding of the development of disease characteristics, and our results will therefore be directly relevant to diagnose, designing effective strategies to prevent and/or treat the the large population of OSA sufferers who are known to be at increased risk of developing dementia.
