Grant Activity:
How defects in centrosome to microtubule attachment cause microcephaly.
Purpose:
Our project will define mechanisms in the developing brain responsible for a birth defect known as microcephaly, a condition characterized by reduced head size, cognitive capacity and epilepsy that severely impact the quality of life of affected individuals, their families and communities. We will reveal how errors in protein function and defects in neural stem cell divisions cause disease. This information will help us better understand how microcephaly develops for disease management.
