Grant Activity:
Neuro-immune cross talk in influenza virus pathogenesis
Purpose:
The nervous system plays an important role in controlling the immune response. However, there is limited information available about how the nervous system senses and responds to a flu infection in the lungs. This application will address this significant gap in our knowledge and provide the first insight as to the role of the vagus nerve in severe flu infections. The outcomes of this project will pave the way for future studies to modulate the response of the vagal nerve to reduce flu severity.
