A randomized controlled trial comparing epinephrine and dexamethasone to placebo in the treatment of infants with bronchiolitis
Purpose:
Bronchiolitis is a viral illness involving the lungs and is the main cause of admission to hospital in infants. No treatments have yet been shown to improve the illness. We plan to test whether the combination of two drugs (adrenaline - given as a mist to breathe - and a cortisone medication - given as a liquid) can improve the symptoms and reduce the need for admission to hospital in infants older than 2 months and younger than 1 year in hospitals in Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
