Grant Activity:
Elucidating the mechanisms driving the pathophysiology of HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders.
Purpose:
Despite successful viral suppression with combination antiretroviral therapy (cART), HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND) remain a significant clinical problem with HAND diagnosed in 30-70 percent of treated subjects. The mechanisms underpinning the development of these conditions remain unclear. Our study will elucidate the mechanisms underlying the establishment of HAND during suppressive antiretroviral therapy.
