Grant Activity:
Regulatory networks defining stem cell populations in the adult male germline
Purpose:
Stem cells are essential for maintenance and repair of many adult tissues including testis. Within a given tissue, different populations of stem cells can play contrasting roles in tissue maintenance and regeneration. We have identified a group of stem cells within the testis marked by a unique set of genes critical during embryo development. Our studies will assess the role of this new cell population in male fertility and testis repair and define genes required for its function.
