Grant Activity:
The Structural Basis of Cytokine Receptor Triggering
Purpose:
Receptors span the membrane at the cell surface sense the surrounding environment. Essential Thrombocythemia and Myelofibrosis can be caused by mutation of the thrombopoietin receptor in the very region that spans the membrane. This work will address deficiencies in our understanding about how the membrane-embedded regions of receptors control signalling and will look for leads in the development of new therapies that target these receptors.
