Purpose:
By 2050, a large proportion of the Australian population will be over 65. Traditional healthcare settings are unlikely to cope with the increased monitoring and treatment demands of this aged population. Most patients would prefer to maintain autonomy and independence without sacrificing the security that exists in the hospital. This PhD aims to explore new modalities that enable the advanced monitoring that exist in the Intensive Care, in nontraditional settings such as home, or nursing homes.
