Primary Aldosteronism: Prevalence, Clinical Features, and Biomarkers
Purpose:
Hypertension affects millions of Australians. Some of these cases are caused by primary aldosteronism (PA), a condition of excessive aldosterone production by the adrenal gland. This project aims to establish the prevalence of PA in primary care; and to identify early clinical features and novel cellular markers that may help distinguish PA from other causes of hypertension. Findings from this project may influence guidelines on hypertension management in Australia.
