Grant Activity:
A metabolic enzyme as a target for controlling tumourigenesis
Purpose:
Cancer is the leading cause of death in Australia and globally. The majority of cancers are associated with metabolic alterations in tumours. We have identified a key role for an enzyme involved in fatty acid metabolism which impairs immune responses involved in tumour-control and drives cancer. This research aims to investigate key mechanisms of how this enzyme promotes tumour progression and establish the development of inhibitors of this enzyme that can be applied to different cancers.
