Grant Activity:
Targeting phenotypic plasticity to treat chemotherapy-resistant cancer
Purpose:
Some cancer cells are very aggressive. Those cells are the reason why cancers become resistant to chemotherapy. If we can eradicate the aggressive cells we can improve survival outcomes for patients. We have identified a new target, SULF1, that is required for cancer cells to be aggressive and evade chemotherapy. We now aim to show that by targeting SULF1 we can stop cancers from spreading and make them susceptible to chemotherapy.
