Mogus Selatan (working title)
Purpose:
A residency and solo exhibition (in the form of an immersive installation of knitting and crochet depicting an ocean-scape) by acclaimed Indonesian visual artist Mulyana, as the centerpiece of the inaugural South Festival, in remote South Hedland. Mulyana's installation will explicitly reference Hedland's marine ecology, and his residency will be co-presented in collaboration with local community groups, including the Indonesian Hedland Community, who will additionally be supported to present cultural exhibitions and performances to contextualise his project. His time in Hedland will incorporate skills-sharing workshops with local creatives and school students.
