Grant Activity:
Randomised Evaluation of the Impact of Catheter Ablation versus Medical Therapy on Psychological Distress and Neurocognitive Function in Atrial Fibrillation
Purpose:
Atrial fibrillation (AF), a type of arrhythmia, is a risk factor for both psychological distress and cognitive decline. This study aims to determine if potentially curative catheter ablation procedures result in a greater improvement in markers of psychological distress and neurocognitive function compared to ongoing anti-arrhythmic drugs. We will also assess if catheter ablation procedures lead to reduced AF burden and hospitalisations as well as improved quality of life and cardiac function.
