Grant Program:
Investigator
Grant Activity:
Applying pathogen genomics to the prevention and control of antimicrobial resistance
Purpose:

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a huge threat to public health, both in Australia and globally. In some instances, having an AMR infection can even lead to death. Current methods used to identify AMR may not be sensitive enough to track outbreaks of AMR bacteria. Here, I will use cutting-edge molecular techniques (‘genomics’) to prevent and control AMR in a range of settings, and provide evidence for the routine use of these technologies in everyday clinical and public health practice.
