Changing management of infections in the immunocompromised
Purpose:
Infection is a major cause of death and hospitalisation for cancer patients. Management of infections in cancer has not kept pace with advances in cancer care and often the cause of infection is unclear. Consequently antibiotics are over-used. Specialised and targeted approaches to prevent and respond effectively to infection in cancer patients are urgently required. This grant will result in new knowledge and guidelines for infection in cancer patients improving outcomes.
