Purpose:
Pregnancy is a time of increased vulnerability to disease and health complications, with approximately 830 women dying each day from causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. By synergising epidemiology and laboratory-based research, I propose generating new translatable concepts that tackle major pregnancy conditions - preeclampsia, eclampsia and the treatment of psychiatric disorders during pregnancy. Synergising these research streams will significantly speed clinical translation.
